The Best Cannabis Snacks

Smoking and vaping are two of the most common ways to ingest cannabis, but it can get boring after a while. With a plethora of edible cannabis ingredients available — in the form of cannabutter, cannabis oil and even cannabis sugar — edible alternatives can help spice up your daily dose.

Homemade Snack Options

With a good cannabutter, cannabis oil or cannabis sugar recipe, you can make just about any edible under the sun. We’ve collected a few edibles you can make from home for a fun culinary cannabis experience:

Triple Chocolate Pot Brownies

A consistent go-to for marijuana lovers everywhere, pot brownies are a great choice for a sweet snack at the end of your meal. Here’s what you need:

  • 4 ounces chocolate squares, unsweetened
  • ½ cup cannabutter
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅔ cup white chocolate, chopped

First, heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt your chocolate and butters together and mix. Stir in the sugar, eggs and extracts. Next, stir in the flour and salt. Spread this across a greased 9” x 13” pan and top it with the white chocolate. Add nuts if you’re feeling adventurous!

Bake it for about 25 to 30 minutes. Serve your brownies plain or topped with ice cream or whipped cream and fruit.

Granola Bars

Need a fix when you’re on-the-go? Granola bars are a great option — and with these granola bars, you also get your daily cannabis fix.

  • Coconut oil spray
  • 4-5 cups quick-cook oatmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ⅔ cup cannabutter, melted
  • ⅔ cup honey
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2-cup mix of chocolate chips, walnuts, pecans, raisins and coconut flakes in whatever ratio you want

Heat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9” x 13” pan with coconut oil. Combine all your ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir until it’s relatively uniform. Spread the mix into the prepared pan and press it all by hand, making it as even as possible.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown. Let cool and cut it into whatever shape you desire.

Mac and Cheese

Cannabis-laced mac and cheese is a great choice for a weekend comfort food! This creamy meal will sate your palate and get in your daily dose of cannabis.

weed mac and cheese

  • ½ pound elbow macaroni or shells
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons cannabutter
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2½ to 3 cups warm milk
  • 4 ounces smoked mozzarella, grated (1 cup)
  • 8 ounces medium cheddar, grated (2 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil, (using canna-oil is optional)
  • 2 ounces sharp cheddar, grated (1/2 cup)

Heat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Fill a large pot with water, oil and salt and bring it to a boil. Add the pasta to the water and cook according to the directions on the pasta package. Drain well and let the pasta sit as you melt the cannabutter in a small saucepan. Whisk in the flour and cook the mix for five minutes before adding warm milk.

Cook for two more minutes until thickened, then add the cheese, salt, paprika, pepper and nutmeg. Once the mixture is uniform, add the cooked macaroni to the mixture and stir well. Add the macaroni to a baking dish.

In a small mixing bowl, combine canola oil with the breadcrumbs and sharp cheddar and sprinkle the mixture over the top of the macaroni. Bake the prepared macaroni and cheese for 25 to 35 minutes until the macaroni is browned on top. Remove from the oven when ready, let your macaroni cool and get ready to serve!

Cannabis-Infused Chocolate Glaze

Need a creamy chocolate dip for chocolate-covered strawberries or marshmallows? This easy-to-make chocolate glaze adds cannabis to the mix, providing you with a versatile edible you can add to nearly any dessert.

All you need is two tablespoons of canna-coconut oil and one-and-a-half cups of chocolate chips. Mix these together in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave the mix for 30 seconds. Stir again.

Continue microwaving and stirring in 15-second intervals until the mixture is melted and smooth. Let it sit until the mix reaches room temperature, and you have ready-to-dip chocolate sauce!

For chocolate-covered delicacies, simply dip strawberries or marshmallows in the sauce and place them in the refrigerator to solidify the chocolate.

Refreshing Cannabis Beverages

If you’re more in the mood for a flavorful drink full of your favorite medicine, here are a few more options that may appeal to your tastes:

Coco-Cannaberry Smoothie

Want a healthy, marijuana-infused fruit smoothie? Here’s a perfect one for summer! You just need the following:

  • 2 tablespoons canna-coconut oil
  • 1 large frozen banana, sliced
  • 1½ to 2 cups coconut milk
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 4 tablespoons pomegranate juice
  • 2 tablespoons pomegranate molasses

Heat your canna-coconut oil in a small skillet, add the banana and sauté for three or four minutes, stirring occasionally. Once finished, allow the mixture to cool. Place this mix and the rest of the ingredients in a blender, being sure to scrape all the oil into the blender as well.

Puree the ingredients until smooth and serve it all in two glasses.

Vodka Cannabis Tincture

Need something a little stronger to suit your tastes? A vodka cannabis tincture is all you need to get there! Use this cannabis-infused vodka in any regular drink mix to add an extra spin to an old favorite, like the Bloody Mary.

You’ll need just two ingredients: 3/4 ounces of finely-ground cannabis and 3 fluid ounces of vodka. To successfully make this cannabis tincture, you need to use at least 100-proof alcohol (50% alcohol).

First, decarboxylate your cannabis by heating it in the oven at 150 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour, or until it crumbles between your fingers when rolled. Powder the cannabis and soak it for 12 hours to remove all water-soluble impurities. Remove the excess water, transfer the cannabis to a jar with a lid and pour your vodka over the cannabis.

Store this mix in a cool dark place for 10 days or more — the longer it waits, the better it tastes. Shake it every day until you’re ready to use it, then filter the mixture through cheesecloth to remove the solid particles until you get a clear liquid.

This is your vodka tincture, ready to use by itself or in a mixed beverage.
