State law ensures that when you shop at a licensed dispensary, you won’t find any illegitimate products. Everything a dispensary sells comes from a registered dispensary. They get products from either in-house facilities or another certified dispensary. Places that create edible products must also have food certification, so you don’t have to worry about unsafe medication.
Arizona allows medical cannabis sales only, so you have to have a patient card to buy medicine. State residents with qualifying conditions can apply for a medical marijuana card. If you visit from out of state or consider yourself a “snowbird,” you can bring your medical marijuana card from home to legally possess marijuana medicine. But, you can’t buy anything from a dispensary.
Arizona technically has rules that let patients grow their medicine, but they only apply to a small portion of the population. According to the law, you can request approval for home cultivation if you live more than 25 miles from a dispensary. But, it turns out that only about three percent of Arizona residents have an address that far away. If you live in the Phoenix Metro Area, you won’t qualify because of the large number of dispensaries in the area.
