Camphor is a terpenoid that is known for its distinct fragrance. It is extracted from the wood of an evergreen tree called camphor laurel and other trees of the laurel family, found mainly in Southeast Asian countries. Camphor has been historically used in traditional medicines and religious rituals across the world. Its sublimating capability gives it utility in the perfume industry and culinary preparations too.
Camphor is one of the terpenes that occur in cannabis. Given camphor’s medicinal properties, it can provide innumerable benefits to health. It is an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory terpenoid, and also acts as a decongestant. Camphor can be used to relieve pain as it is known to have a mild analgesic effect.
Cannabis strains contain several compounds that have high medicinal value and provide effective relief from chronic symptoms. Since every cannabis strain contains different concentrations of compounds such as camphor, they produce varying effects.
