A blunt is a cigar that has been hollowed out and filled with cannabis products, for the purposes of smoking cannabis instead of tobacco. The major difference between a blunt and a joint is the size and method of the rolling, although the terms are often interchanged. Typically, inexpensive cigars are used for the practice since it’s just the leaf paper being used and not the contents of the cigar.

The term blunt originated from Phillies Blunt brand cigars, but any cigar can be used for the practice. Also, the term blunt doesn’t solely apply to cigars, but can also apply to cigarillos or other cigar-like objects as the practice of removing the tobacco to replace it with cannabis remains the same. “Dutch” is also a term used for blunt which got similar origins from the Dutch Masters brand.

The term blunt applies to tobacco as well, being used more to indicate a cigar that is wider than a cigarillo, but not as wide as a Corona.

Are you curious to learn about rolling a blunt? Here are the steps :

  • Firstly, grind your cannabis either with your fingers or with a grinder.
  • Secondly, cut open a cigar from the middle and remove the tobacco.
  • Thirdly, moisten the cigar wrap either with water or your saliva. Since the cigar is thick, it will be easier to roll if you moisten it.
  • Lastly, put the ground cannabis into the cigar and spread it evenly. With the size of a cigar, you can sufficiently put 1 or 2 grams of cannabis. Then roll it with your fingers and seal the edge of the cigar by licking it with your tongue.

Now, you have a blunt ready.

Since, the blunt wrap is already made of tobacco leaves, smoking a blunt will also contain the presence of nicotine. You can use different kinds of cannabis but you should remember that not every cannabis is the same.
