Mississippi Medical Marijuana

Mississippi Laws and Qualifying Conditions Related to Medical Marijuana

Senate Bill 2764 was Mississippi’s lone attempt at legalizing medical marijuana in 2014. The act which sought to “authorize the use of medical marihuana by seriously ill patients under a physicians supervision…” was introduced by Senator Deborah Dawkins on January 20, 2014. Sadly it ultimately died after it was referred to the Judiciary Committee.

The irony of this failed attempt to legalize medical marijuana is that the University of Mississippi in Oxford is the lone site where the federal government grows and processes cannabis for federally approved or sanctioned research.
