Patients of Holistic Evaluations in Washington who suffer from moderate to severe chronic pain have shared that the pain can become unmanageable. It gets so bad that they sometimes do not want to get out of bed in the morning. One of the things that pharmaceutical manufacturers do not want you to know, is that long-term use of prescription NSAIDs and opioids can actually amplify sensitivity in pain receptors. Over time, the patient can experience higher levels of pain stimulated by the daily use of opioids.
Chronic pain is just one of many debilitating conditions that may be alleviated by medical cannabis. Some patients undergoing chemotherapy experienced relief from nausea. It may also be a solution for low appetite common with cancer treatments. Medical cannabis has also been used to help patients with glaucoma, multiple sclerosis (MS), and for the treatment of gastrointestinal problems and eating disorders. Our practitioners at Holistic Evaluations can help determine if medical cannabis may offer symptom relief and improve wellness outcomes. During the course of your health evaluation, our physician will review your current medications, pain inventory, and current and past diagnoses will be completed. This is the first step for qualified patients to register as a medical marijuana patient in Washington.
Can Medical Marijuana Patients in Washington Grow Their Own Plants?
Patients with moderate to severe and persistent pain conditions may get better results with high-quality strains of Indica cannabis. However, the cost of strains of cannabis that provide a heavier and sedative effect is more expensive by the ounce, than other varieties.
To help patients economize the cost of their cannabis medicine, Washington permits each patient to grow six marijuana plants. If more than one patient lives in the same residence, the maximum number of cannabis plants cannot exceed fifteen (15). Only recognition cardholders who are registered with the Washington DOH may cultivate cannabis at home for personal use.
