On June 8, 2016, Ohio became the 25th State to legalize medical marijuana. Once a patient has received their medical marijuana card, they are able to purchase medicinal cannabis products from a local dispensary or have a caregiver assist them, if required.

Can I Get My Medical Marijuana Card Evaluation from any Doctor?

The only physician that can evaluate you and help you become certified for a medical marijuana card in Ohio is one that has been licensed by the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program (OMMCP). Medical marijuana doctors in Ohio must complete specialized training to certify patients for the health service.

When your physician has reviewed and approved the qualifying medical conditions and your health history, you will have a confidential profile created in the Ohio Patient & Caregiver Registry. You will receive an email from the OMMCP and need to confirm and complete that registration online.

The annual cost of registration is $50, and $25 for caregivers of qualifying patients. Ohio Veterans and Indigent residents may also be eligible for a fee reduction. Medical marijuana cardholders in Ohio are required to renew annually, within a 90-day period prior to the expiration of the card.

How Do I Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Ohio?

Statewide telemedicine appointments are available for medical marijuana cards in Ohio. In fact, you do not even have to leave your home to start the process to get your medical marijuana card. You are required to receive a medical consultation from an Ohio marijuana doctor to get started. That evaluation is done by appointment, through telehealth services.

At Green Medicine, LLC, your pre-visit patient form must be submitted to our physician three days before your scheduled telemedicine appointment.

During your medical marijuana evaluation, the doctor will discuss your diagnosed conditions with you, as well as the symptoms you are currently experiencing. Your medications and medical history will also be reviewed by the doctor, to make sure that medical cannabis can provide effective relief, without conflicting with any of your other medications.

There are currently twenty-one (21) diagnosed health conditions that will qualify a patient in Ohio for legalized medical marijuana. Learn more about the qualifying health conditions and required diagnoses.
