Dr. Stephen Brown established Advanced Wellness Concepts over 15 years ago. Although Dr. Brown is a traditionally trained medical doctor, he integrates a holistic approach at his private practice with the goal of improving the overall quality of life for each patient he sees. As a result of his educational involvement in the Connecticut State Medical Society, he became aware of the extraordinary natural benefits of medical marijuana to treat or allleivate a variety of symptoms associated with the state-approved qualifying medical conditions. The benefits of medicinal marijuana in treating symptoms of PTSD, many neurological and gastrointestinal diseases and some orthopedic issues of the back are amazingly positive. Dr. Brown is presently creating follow up programs at no additional in order to benefit all patients.  As a veteran combat surgeon, he has a unique perspective on PTSD. Seeing one patient at a time allows Dr. Brown to create an individualized personal care plan. As a member of the Canadian Consortium, Dr. Brown stays updated on the latest research and benefits of medicinal marijuana. All patients who are approved for treatment by Dr. Brown will be registered with Connecticut's Medical Marijuana Program.

Pre-Visit Requirements
  1. Must be 18+ years of age. Patients who are minors must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or registered caregiver during their appointment.
  2. All patients seeking treatment by Advanced Wellness Concepts of Hartford must be a legal resident of CT and provide proof of residency.
  3. Patients must be diagnosed with a qualifying condition under CT State Law:
    • To obtain medical records confirming your diagnosis, complete a medical records release and send it to the doctor who has your records.
  4. Patients should read up on the process for obtaining a medical marijuana card in Connecticut so that they can ask any questions they may have during their appointment.
  5. Advanced Wellness Concepts of Hartford offers a discounted rate for military veterans. ID Proof must be provided.

Dr. Stephen Brown is the former Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at St. Francis Hospital and the New Britain General Hospital. Dr. Brown helped reorganize the Cleft Lip Clinic at Newington Children’s Hospital and provided reconstructive surgical services for the Hospital for Special Care (formerly known as New Britain Memorial). For many years, he taught 3rd and 4th year medical students as well as surgical residents. One area of particular and focused interest for Dr. Brown was post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. Currently, Dr. Brown serves on the Continuing Medical Education Committee of the Connecticut State Medical Society and is the Medical Director of Med Spas in Avon, Guilford and Stamford. Dr. Brown has been featured in a number of published articles, such as Connecticut Doctor Becomes Believer in Healing Power of Medical Marijuana, published by the New Haven Register.
