Why would you want Marijuana to be sold by Criminals?

There is yet another group who wants to challenge Colorado’s voter approved marijuana laws. According to the suit, the responsible party is claiming that the marijuana industry is guilty of racketeering laws. The group known as Safe Street Alliance are basically saying the Federal government should shut down the marijuana industry because they are “selling illegal drugs”.
First, ask yourself
Before we can get into the debate over “illegal drugs”, we must first analyze “why they are illegal in the first place?” The real reason why we have any drug prohibition laws has to do with race. It first started in California and Nevada, where anti-opium laws were established due to the habits of Chinese immigrants. Their main motivation was that Chinese would influence the white population and transform white women into opium riddled sex slaves.
For cocaine it was because “black people were forgetting their place in society” after consuming the intoxicating powder.
Later on, when there was money to be made on incarcerating people for narcotics, the War on Drugs was founded base on the creation of the Controlled Substance Act.
Since then 20,000,000 people have been arrested and more than a trillion tax dollars have been thrown into this black hole. Drug use actually risen and massive drug cartels emerged over the decades.
Now that we know ‘why is it illegal’…
Now that you understand the reason as to why it became illegal, you must ask yourself whether it is correct to arrest people for narcotics. Unless someone is forcing someone else to take drugs, the idea of arresting someone for ‘doing harm to themselves’ is ludicrous and hypocritical. Alcohol is the most dangerous drug in the United States yet there are no restrictions as to how much you can consume of the substance.
Yet, switch the substance to anything of your choosing and you could be slapped with felony possession ruining your life forever.
To have such double standards on substance use is beyond rational thinking.
Back to Safe Streets
Their argument that the Colorado marijuana industry should be shut down because it is “illegal” on a Federal level would be akin to a man arguing during the time of Women’s Suffrage that women shouldn’t have the right to vote because it’s illegal.
The fact of the matter is that the law is wrong, it was founded in racism and only causes havoc on society. It’s time that we decriminalize all drugs, legalize and regulate cannabis like alcohol and get on with our lives.
