Many people wonder who uses medical marijuana? It’s actually used by hundreds of thousands of patients across America, stemming from all walks of life and all age ranges. The 2010 Medical Marijuana Surveyconducted by Legalize Utah found that the majority of medical marijuana patients (65%) are age 30 and older, many of which have children, just like Brooks, a 47 year old medical marijuana patient and father of three from California.
in April of 2009, Brooks’ life was changed forever when he was diagnosed with late stage 3 colorectal cancer. He underwent an aggressive treatment schedule that included 40 radiation treatments, a 24/7 chemo pump, and a 7 hr surgery to remove the tumor, followed by 16 additional weeks of extensive chemo.
“All during that time I was a California medical marijuana patient and it saved my life,” he explains.
Brooks became so sick from the radiation and chemotherapy that he couldn’t eat or drink. But medical marijuana took away the vomiting, gave him an appetite and helped relieve the pain. “I tell everybody I know who is going through Cancer to just give it a try and the feedback I get is great,” he says. “Medical marijuana helps so many people.”
