Medical Marijuana Laws State by State: Clarifying Medical Cannabis Laws

Posted by Marijuana Doctors on 01/19/2010 in Medical Marijuana Laws

The medicinal uses of marijuana are well-documented in modern medical research. Countless medical marijuana studies indicate that marijuana provides symptomatic relief for patients suffering from cancer, HIV/AIDS, Chron’s disease, chronic pain, nausea, vomiting, glaucoma, seizures and more. California paved the way for the medical use of marijuana over a decade ago by becoming the first state to legalize medical cannabis, with many other states following its lead. Most recently, New Jersey legalized medical pot, and four more states and the District of Columbia are expected to follow suit by the end of 2010.

Currently, fourteen states have recognized the medical benefits of marijuana and legalized the use of medical cannabis by qualified patients. Yet each state maintains its own medical marijuana card programs and sets its own limits on growing, purchasing, possession and qualified medical uses. So to help you better understand the laws of all of the medical marijuana states, we’ve compiled state-by-state medical marijuana law fact sheets. Click on your state below to learn more.
