A Fairfield-based company has filed an application to become one of the next medical marijuana production facilities in West Haven, Connecticut. The company will appear before the planning and zoning commissions of West Haven today, as reported per the New Haven Register. The company is known as Advanced Grow Labs L.L.C.
The proposed medical marijuana production facility would open and functionally operate at 400 Frontage Road. Advanced Grow Labs is only the second medical marijuana company to approach the community of West Haven to open up shop in this region.
If the company is approved by West Haven officials, the Advanced Grow Labs L.L.C.’s application would then have to be re-directed to the state to become officially licensed to operate.
Just last year in Connecticut, Governor Dannel Malloy signed into legislation a law that would allow licensed medical practitioners to recommend medical marijuana to patients who are suffering from state-guidelinechronic or debilitating conditions. This was considered a monumental piece of legislation at the time, as in 1981, Connecticut was one of the first states to pass a law approving medical marijuana for paitents with a card.
In 1981, that measure allowed a doctor to recommend medical marijuana to relieve nausea associated with chemotherapy and the treatment of glaucoma. Connecticut continues its efforts to become one of the few states that do not function within any legal grey area in terms of their medical marijuana industry.
