Call to Action: Withdraw Michele Leonhart’s Nomination for DEA Administrator

Late last year, medical marijuana patients across the country breathed a collective sigh of relief when the Obama administration delivered new guidance to federal prosecutors regarding medical marijuana, which was aimed to prevent prosecution on medical cannabis patients and dispensaries that are in compliance with state law.
But despite the clear instructions, acting DEA Administrator Michele Leonhart is blatantly disregarding the President’s orders and continuing to raid homes and businesses where the occupants are acting in compliance with state medical marijuana laws. Under Leonhart, agents are conducting raids on medical marijuana patients and dispensaries, with guns drawn, stealing computers and cash, and leaving homes and businesses in disarray.
We are appalled that a federal agent would defy the Department of Justice and wrongly use federal law enforcement power to trample on states’ rights. Yet, shockingly, Obama has nominated Leonhart as permanent Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration, which means law-abiding medical marijuana patients will continue to endure such violations of their state rights. It’s up to us to put an end to this nomination and help protect marijuana patients.
The Medical Marijuana Policy Project recently called on President Obama to withdraw Michele Leonhart’s nomination, and we are hoping you will too. If you want to help law-abiding patients in need use their medicine without fear of unfair prosecution, follow this link and fill out the form at the bottom of this page to let President Obama know where you stand.
