5 Infallible “Must Know” Pro Marijuana Legalization Arguments
Posted by Marijuana Doctors on 06/27/2013 in Medical Marijuana
Marijuana is becoming ever more popular every passing day yet we’re not out of the proverbial woods yet. There are still people fighting marijuana legalization tooth and nail and it’s up to each and every one of us to know what we are talking about in terms of cannabis legalization. You don’t want to be sounding like a blundering idiot when confronted on an issue you are passionate about now do you?
Marijuana is Medicine –
The first and foremost argument that should be in your mental arsenal should be this; Marijuana is medicine. Cannabis can cure cancer without any side effects. The treatment only targets affected cells and actually promotes healthy cells. Yet cancer is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the curative powers of cannabis. There are over 100 conditions that cannabis can potentially help with and by this merit alone it should be legalized.
Marijuana is the safest “drug” out there –
Cannabis is even less dangerous than caffeine and unlike the two current legal drugs who claim more than a half a million lives each year, Cannabis has never killed anyone directly. It’s physically impossible to overdose on marijuana and is infinitely healthier to consume than nicotine and alcohol. If experimenting with your state of consciousness is allowed with a substance such as alcohol, then by default the same should go for cannabis consumption.
75 years of Prohibition has done absolutely nothing –
Well, this isn’t entirely true. Drug prohibition did not stop drug consumption, in fact the rate of consumption actually slightly increased over the years. But prohibition actually did do was create a lucrative black market that has absolutely no regulation which means that children are more exposed to drugs due to prohibition.
A Drug Conviction can Ruin your Life –
You cannot die from cannabis consumption but a drug conviction can haunt you for the rest of your life. You won’t be able to get loans for almost anything, employment will be forever hindered and society will discriminate you at a much higher rate than without a conviction attached to your name. The punishment for the alleged “crime” is far worse than cannabis could ever be under any light. The system in itself creates unemployable people who become a strain on the rest of society.
Real Crime is still happening –
Anyone who supports prohibition also supports murders not being solved, rape cases stacking up, human trafficking to reign unchallenged. Cannabis is a “victim-less” crime unlike organ trafficking however most of police resources are being spent on the Drug War and not on solving real crime. If we could direct 100% of police activity on real crime we would have safer streets and society for our children.
There are plenty of other arguments out there but these are truly important. The arguments suggested above affects absolutely everyone on the planet and if we don’t arm ourselves with this knowledge we will never be able to push the legalization effort over the proverbial edge.
